Redclothespin was born in 2015, from a desire to turn the clock back a little.
To a time before disposable everything.
Buying things to use once and throw away is just crazy.
In today's world, (of high prices and low quality) with minimal effort it's easy to change the parts that we can.
About Renee Newstrum
I have been involved with textiles and sewing for most of my life. I learned to sew from my mother as a young teenager because it was important to have a way to express my own style, and not be limited to what was on the rack at the department store.
Later, as a single mother I sewed for my three boys when they were growing up, and progressed to making custom bridal and formal wear as a side hustle when they were teenagers. I then spent 10 years working in film and television as a seamstress in Southern California, before returning home to the beautiful SW coast of Washington.
At the Market
Near to where I live is the town of Astoria, Oregon, where an amazing farmer's market runs for five months each summer season.
One time nearly 10 years ago, I was shopping there and a vendor commented on my bag and the rest of my outfit saying "You're our People - why are you not joining us?" And the next summer I did just that. After a few years I began doing larger events and festivals in the region, each year adding to my product line.
